Averaging 22 points and
15.5 rebounds per game this season, Orne had his 36 points and 30
rebounds in a 79-74 double overtime loss to Mid-Prairie High School.
Esteemed Mid-Prairie head coach and the chair of the USA Basketball
Men's Junior Development Committee Don Showalter commented on Orne.
"Orne is an excellent offensive rebounder with the ability to get the
rebound out of his area and score," said Showalter. "His midrange game
is very good, and he can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket
and finish. He is the type of player that compliments the players around
him."
Orne, who has already unofficially visited Iowa, Illinois State, Drake
and Northern Iowa, said he is wide open at this point in his
recruitment, but he did list some of the schools he is hearing from.
"Drake has been to a couple games," said Orne. "I'm also hearing from
Illinois State, Iowa, Iowa State, Marquette and Utah."
Orne is also a talented tight end and defensive end on the football
field, but basketball is the sport of his future.
"Iowa and Iowa State are recruiting me in football," he said. "But I
would much rather play basketball."
Orne will run with the Iowa Barnstormers on the AAU circuit.
