Barnstormers Basketball of Iowa
was established to provide talented young athletes with
quality teaching, competition, exposure, teammates, and a unique "family"
atmosphere outside of their school basketball programs. The Barnstormers
began with a single team in 2005, and merged with the Iowa Mavericks program in
2006 to provide more opportunities for more
of Iowa's young athletes.
Made up of
boys from throughout the state of Iowa, the Barnstormers now field eight teams,
grades 6-12, for the 2008 season. Each age group will participate in
approximately ten tournaments per year in the spring and summer months.
Barnstormers teams will consist of 10-12 players per team, and are
coached by NCAA certified coaches. In the past, the
teams have traveled to tournaments in South Dakota, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin,
Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, and Nevada, as well as many local
tournaments throughout Iowa.
Barnstormers Basketball of Iowa is a non-profit,
tax-exempt organization: money or other donations to the Barnstormers are used
to defray travel costs for athletes and parents, purchase uniforms and other
gear, and pay tournament entry fees. All donations to the Barnstormers are
deductible by donors for Federal income tax purposes.
