The Barnstormers 7th Grade boys participated last weekend in the 13U AAU State tournament in Des Moines.  The 'Stormers 13U Black squad went 1-2 for the event, going 1-1 in pool play before playing the Barnstormers Gold team in the first round of tournament play.  The 13U Gold team went 4-1, going undefeated in pool play and losing in the semis to the eventual champions.  13U Gold finished in third place and qualified for AAU Nationals in Memphis, TN this summer.

Josh Oglesby (Cedar Rapids Washington, 2011) was recently featured in a recruiting story by Antonio Curro of NY2LA Sports:

"On a national level, the state of Iowa has not always received the respect it deserves when it comes to hoops.  With players surfacing in the NBA over the past few years and even others exploding nationally at the Grassroots level, high school prospects across the state are starting to see interest at an earlier level and a level of respect that has been way past due for its basketball. One talent who continues to see the recruiting trail for him pick up is 6-5 2011 G Josh Oglesby of Cedar Rapids Washington in Iowa."  Read Full Story HERE.

The Barnstormers 16U and 17U squads travelled to Las Vegas, NV on July 22-26 for their season-ending tournament, The Main Event.  The 17s went 3-2 in Vegas, going 2-1 in pool play and losing in the 2nd round of tournament play.  The 17U 'Stormers finished with a season record of 26-16.  The 16s went 3-1, going undefeated in pool play, but losing in the 2nd round of the tournament.  The 16U 'Stormers finished with an outstanding record of 41-6!

After a few weeks off, the Barnstormers will begin the process of selecting players for next year's teams with tryouts on August 22nd.  Congratulations on another great summer, 'Stormers!

Will Artino (Waukee, 2010) has ended his recruiting process, committing to play basketball at Creighton University next year.  Creighton is an NCAA Division I school in the Missouri Valley Conference.  Will has been a member of the Barnstormers family for two years, joining in the fall of his sophomore year.  Congratulations Will!

17U Barnstormers players Will Artino, Nathan Buss, Isaac Gardner, and Nick Wilson, along with former Barnstormer and current Iowa Hawkeye Brennan Cougill, took time out of their schedule to visit the children at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital on Friday afternoon.  The players spent time with the children playing video games, pool, and even shot hoops in the hospital's gymnasium.  Everyone involved had a great time, and they plan a return visit soon.

Antonio Curro of NY2LA Sports recently published his national rankings for this summer, and three Barnstormers were ranked in the top 150 players in the nation.  Josh Oglesby (Cedar Rapids Washington, 2011), Rasham Suarez (Findley Prep, 2011), and Josh Weeber (pictured, Dubuque Senior, 2013) were all prominently ranked.  Curro also writes for SLAM magazine and Hoopscoop Online.

Congratulations on the honor, guys, and keep working hard!
